Kempe Club faces Jalan Padang, and if you go up that same road, about a 100 yards, you would have seen the padang on the left. Alas! no more now. Govt.quarters situated around and facing the padang had some well known occupants - Aloysius Mathews, Chan Ah Kee, his son Francis Chang, the Amaladass family and others, including Sadhu Ram Sharma (of the Prisons Dept.), a well known and respected bone-setter.
